Terms of Service

Welcome to sbTix. By using the platform to buy or sell tickets, you agree to these terms. Please read them.

1. What sbTix is

sbTix is a platform that lets independent organizers create events and sell tickets, and lets attendees buy them. For every event, the organizer is the seller of record and is responsible for the event itself. sbTix provides the ticketing technology and payment processing.

2. Buying tickets

• Prices, fees, and availability are shown before you pay. A per‑ticket service fee may apply and is displayed at checkout.
• Your ticket is a cryptographically signed QR code delivered by email. Each code admits one person and can be scanned once — don't share screenshots.
• Refunds are at the organizer's discretion unless an event is cancelled. Contact the organizer through their event page for refund requests.

3. Organizing & selling

• You must provide accurate event information and have the right to run the event.
• Payouts are made to your connected merchant account (set up during onboarding). You're responsible for delivering the event you sold and for any taxes you're required to collect or remit.
• sbTix charges a transparent platform fee per ticket, shown in your dashboard. You may not use sbTix for illegal events, fraud, or anything that violates our payment processor's acceptable-use rules.
• Support access. sbTix staff cannot access your account on their own. If you need support, you generate a short-lived support code from your dashboard and share it with us; a support agent uses that code to open a support session for your org. The code is single-use and expires quickly, you can end the session at any time, and every action taken during it is recorded in an internal audit log (who, when, what actions) available to you on request.
• Platform-operational access. Separate from support sessions, a limited set of information about your organization is visible to sbTix staff without a support code, strictly to run the platform: your organization's name, owner contact, connected payment account status, aggregate revenue and ticket-sale counts, and the public content of your event pages (including pages marked as private links, which are unlisted from public browsing but not walled off from the platform that hosts them). It does not include buyer personal information, payout details, or the ability to edit, delete, or take action on your account — those still require a support code you generate.

3a. Email to your buyers

sbTix sends your buyers the emails needed to run your event — tickets, receipts and event changes. Beyond that, a buyer may tick a box at checkout asking sbTix to email them occasional event picks and offers. That consent is between the buyer and sbTix: it is recorded separately, it does not add anyone to your list, and sbTix never uses your subscriber list for its own marketing. Buyers who opt in also see a short note from sbTix beneath the tickets in their receipt, with an unsubscribe link that affects sbTix's email only.

4. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the platform: no fraud, no attempts to forge or resell tickets you don't hold, no scraping, and no interfering with the service or other users.

Prohibited event categories. You may not use sbTix to organize, advertise, or sell tickets to any of the following. Events flagged in these categories will be unpublished and the org may be suspended:

• Sale or transfer of controlled substances (including but not limited to cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA, unlicensed cannabis).
• Sale or transfer of firearms, ammunition, or weapons — including gun shows without a licensed dealer of record.
• Gambling, wagering, sports betting, or games of chance without the applicable state or municipal license.
• Alcohol-focused events (open bar, bar crawl, wine tasting) without the necessary liquor license or licensed venue.
• Adult or sexually explicit events without a verified age gate and a clear performer-consent policy. Child sexual abuse material, in any form, is a permanent ban with no appeal.
• Events organized by hate groups, or events whose primary purpose is to incite violence against a protected class.
• Human trafficking, smuggling, or events that facilitate either.
• Any event that violates the acceptable-use rules of our PCI DSS Level 1 payment processor, whose rules apply on top of ours.

We use automated text scans at create + edit time, honor abuse reports from anyone with the link (including for private events), and spot-check a sample of new events for review. If your event is flagged in error, reply to the notice we send and we'll take another look.

5. Payments

Card payments are processed by a PCI DSS Level 1 payment processor and subject to their terms. sbTix is not a bank and does not store full card details.

6. Disclaimers & liability

The platform is provided "as is." sbTix is not responsible for the events themselves — that's the organizer's responsibility. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim is limited to the fees we earned on the relevant order.

7. Privacy

Your data is handled per our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share your personal information.

8. Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA.
